This Large IRISH WADE Trinket or Serving Bowl is entitled: TWO PHEASANTS ON A BUSH, and features the typical Blue & Green Glazed finish by WADE of Ireland. The outside walls feature a repeating shamrock image, the base has the WADE logo, and the inside bottom has a stunning coloured image of the two pheasants. Made in Ireland.
The condition is excellent, no chips or cracks, but there does seem to be some minor circular scuffing surrounding the birds, but not affecting their image. (I think the previous owner maybe had a little plant pot sitting inside this bowl?) I tried to capture the scuff in the last photo below, thank you.
DID YOU KNOW? The Wade Group's Irish division, established in 1946 to produce electrical insulators after WWII, became an independent entity known as WADE Ulster, Ltd. in 1950. The company differentiated itself from its English counterpart by introducing a unique blue/green glaze marked with an Irish shamrock.
