A Vintage Round Tin Can with Amazing Yellowed Patina and Squished Quirky Lid, Made in England
I wouldn't normally have a tin in my collection with a squished lid, but this one is squished, and it doesn't actually diminish it's overall displayability! With a decades old worn patina, all yellowed, and with just the right amount of Nova Scotia grime, she still looks pretty good. The removable top is very worn, and damaged as mentioned, and still it's as tight as the day it was made. Clean bottom and insides. Made in England.
DID YOU KNOW? I was told the tale of just how this tin's lid got squished, and the story starts when it was sitting on a wall-shelf in the Back "EL" (the EL was a Nova Scotia name to a storage area attached to the back of the house, and usually stored a wagon, supplies, or farm implements and tools) So this tin was sitting on this shelf, and the shelf a few higher broke loose and came crashing down, on-top of the shelves below, and it was a dominoe effect of one on-top of the other, until it contained this particular tin, and the weight of the shelves atop made it get squished in the lid... and that's what they figure happened to it, but who really knows what happened that dark and stormy night eh?ย ย
