Vintage frosted satin glass creamer pitcher made in Japan, dating primarily from the mid-20th century between the 1950s and 1970s. The condition appears perfect, with no chips or cracks or rough edges, but does appear slightly used probably by the way it was finished. The base displays 'MADE IN JAPN' embossed around theย rim, and not sure if this was an abbreviation by the company, or just a mistake. Either way, it was Made in Japan!
This piece features a smooth, velvety matte finish achieved through acid etching or sandblasting, a technique popular among Japanese glassmakers who exported tableware to match the booming international demand for American-style satin and camphor depression glass. The design showcases an elegant paneled or fluted geometric mold inspired by Mid-Century Modern aesthetics, which provided both structural strength and a classic visual appeal. Highly functional, and looks terrific on any table!
