Vintage Bronze Metal Miniature Figurine: THE HAMBURG WATER CARRIER, known as "Hans Hummel" or "Hummel Mors".
The figure is based on Johann Wilhelm Bentz (1787-1854), a real water carrier in 19th-century Hamburg who was known for his grumpy demeanor. Children would taunt him by yelling "Hummel, Hummel," to which he would reply "Mors, Mors" (a local insult).
