Vintage Anchor Hocking glassware is a treasure trove for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Anchor Hocking, an American glassware company, has been producing beautiful and functional glass items since 1905. Their vintage pieces, especially those from the mid-20th century, are highly sought after for their unique designs and quality craftsmanship.
HISTORY OF ANCHOR HOCKING: The company has a rich history that dates back to 1905. It all began when Isaac J. Collins and six friends raised $8,000 to buy the Lancaster Carbon Company in Lancaster, Ohio. The company was initially known as the Hocking Glass Company, named after the Hocking River. In 1937, the Hocking Glass Company merged with the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation, forming the Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation. This merger allowed the company to expand its production capabilities and diversify its product offerings. Throughout the years, Anchor Hocking has been known for its innovative glassware designs and manufacturing techniques. One notable innovation was the development of a revolutionary machine that pressed glass automatically, significantly increasing production rates. This innovation helped the company survive the Great Depression and continue to grow.
