ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Mae Hill Brown was born in New Jersey in 1908. She graduated from Nurses Training School in 1929 and since then has worked in the fields of public health and psychiatric nursing. She lived in New York, Michigan, and Texas before moving to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in 1967.
