THIS WAS OUR VALLEY brought to light the changes wrought by the W.A.C. Bennett Dam that went online in 1967, from fluctuating water flow-levels to continued erosion of the banks, loss of forestry, damage to fish and wildlife habitats – effects that continue to be experienced today.
DID YOU KNOW? The W. A. C. Bennett Dam is a large hydroelectric dam on the Peace River in northern British Columbia, Canada. At 186 metres high, it is one of the world's highest earth fill dams. Construction of the dam began in 1961 and culminated in 1968.
