CHARTWELL, is an illustrated guide that describes in words and photos the Churchills' life at Chartwell, and the house and garden that they created.

Chartwell has become synonymous with Churchill. In 1922 Winston Churchill bought this unpretentious house overlooking the Weald of Kent, and for the next 40 years it was his family home. From here he waged his lonely war against the rise of Fascism in the 1930's. After leading Britain through five years of war, he returned to spend much of his retirement writing and painting.
