This Rare STURGIS 75th Anniversary 1912-1987 Special Edition Decorative Plate, features simple line drawings in brown ink of various Sturgis community buildings, on an all-white plate, and embellished with STURGIS and the dates 1912-1987, which is their 75th Anniversary as an American City. On the backside is a listing of 'Overseers & Mayors' during the same time period. The plates rim is decked-out in gold. Condition is 100% Excellent, like-new guaranteed.
HISTORY OF STURGIS: Sturgis is a city in western South Dakota with a population of about 7,000 people. The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame nods to the city's long-running Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and houses vintage motorbikes, plus memorabilia and photographs. Fort Meade, a 19th-century military outpost, and the Old Fort Meade Museum, documenting its history, are just east of town. To the south, Black Hills National Forest has rugged mountains, canyons and trails. Sturgis is renowned world-wide for The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the largest motorcycle rally in the world. It is held annually in The Black Hills and in Sturgis, South Dakota for 10 days each year.
