SOLDIER BOYS, by G.F. McCauley, is a story of fictional characters, but it's a story absolutely true to what happened to thousands of young Canadians who volunteered to fight Nazi Germany on the battlefields of Europe.

The story follows six friends from Northern Ontario, six friends who call themselves the Little League of Nations because of their various ancestries. In 1940 the Little Leaguers sign on with the Algonquin Regiment and determinedly form themselves into a formidable fighting unit. McCauley pulls no punches as the story unfolds; this is realistic fiction. There are moments of humour and romance, but this is war, and the specter of injury and death is ever-present. It is a story of their 'blood, sweat and tears.' It is a story all should honour and none forget.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Gary Francis McCauley (April 1, 1940-May 13, 2018),  was born in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. He was an Anglican priest, a Member of Parliament, an adjudicator with the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Veterans Review and Appeal Board. He was also a novelist and essayist with a quick and inventive sense of humour. Gary has written three novels beginning with Soldier Boys, the story of a young man who goes off to fight Hitler and comes home badly scarred by his war. The novels which follow, 'Faith Of Our Fathers' and 'Morgan Le Fay' tell how the man’s damaged psyche affects his life and the life of his son. He also wrote 'Fraud and Disability: The SNAFU at Veterans Affairs'.
