COMPANY HISTORY: Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. spans 81 years of English pottery manufacturing. Operating out of the Dresden Works in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, the firm evolved through multiple name changes. They are most famous for their vintage ceramic tableware and decorative items made from the 1940s to the 1960s. Sadly the company closed its doors in 1968.

  • Signature Styles: The company was famous for its vibrant lusterware finishes and traditional English coaching and village landscapes, such as the widely collected Ye Olden Days series.
  • Backstamps: Collectors date items using backstamps. Items marked "English Ware" emerged right after the 1944 renaming, while pieces explicitly stamped "Sandland Ware" were introduced starting in 1949.
