ROOTS IN THE ROCKIES, is a personal account of the author's life in the warden service for Parks Canada.
Frank Camp was raised in Jasper in the 1930s. Frank’s father, George Camp, was a Park Warden in Jasper National Park. George took his son with him on some of his horse trips in the backcountry thus sparking Frank’s interest in a nature and the backcountry in particular. Frank explored the mountains as a young man with a goal to follow in his father’s footsteps some day. His career goal was interrupted by the second world war when he enlisted serving in the navy for two years. Following the war Frank was successful when he applied for a job with the national park service. During his 35 years he served in many national parks including Jasper, Waterton Lakes, Banff and Pacific Rim. During his career he experienced great changes in the warden service with coming of computer technology.
