RESTORATION AGAINST ALL ODDS, is the story of the Baldwin Locomotive Number 112 which was put on display at the dry sort of Canadian Forest Products, now Western Forest Products located at Beaver Cove near the town of Port McNeill on northeastern Vancouver Island.

In 1974 the engine was luckily placed there for display rather than being cut up for scrap. It had cosmetically been repaired with paint a few times but had deteriorated and Western Forest wanted to get rid of it as it was a public liability. The Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society in Port Alberni was given the engine under the condition that it was to be no monetary cost to the company in both time and money. Steam engines privately owned today are extremely rare and this made the engine a great gift...please read this book to find out what happened to this very lucky steam engine!
