Vintage mid-century modern enamel-on-copper dish or ring tray, created by mid-century artists Hank and Diny Frugte, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Condition is EXCELLENT, and it's a truly stunning piece of one-of-a-kind artwork. The copperwork is meticulous, the enamel appears almost 3-D, and it's perfect. The base displays artists signatures and location. Made in Canada.

The signatures on the bottom of this artwork confirm that the dish is a piece of Canadian mid-century studio art made by the husband-and-wife artist duo Hank & Diny Frugte out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Hendrik "Hank" Frugte and Berendina "Diny" Frugte originally emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada shortly after World War II, bringing their professional training as enamelists with them. This piece was created during the height of their studio production, likely in the 1960s or 1970s. The textured gray and brown backing showcases the typical counter-enamel applied to the reverse of a hand-wrought copper plate to keep the piece stable during firing, while the black felt pads on the base were added by a previous owner to protect tabletops from scratching. Today, their work is highly sought after by collectors of Mid-Century Modern Canadian studio art.
