Having come to the Tofino area on Vancouver Island in 1945 just after World War II as a war bride, Dorothy Abraham self-published a journal, LONE CONE, (1945). Her aim in writing this book was to educate a new generation of war brides who would be coming to Canada following WWII, by chronicling pioneer life on the West Coast.
