This is a Large Book-Style Antique Tin, commonly entitled, 'Little Blonde Boy & Puppy Dog', and is actually a portrait of Master Simpson, by the renowned artist Arthur William Devis. Striking in size, and impressive in quality; this is a well-made tin, company unknown. Beautiful tin embossing work on all sides, and top border, all in gold with blackened background. The image is famous, and on this tin it's still deep and vivid, but there are a couple of tall vertical scratches running right through. These do not take away from the displayability of this tin. The inside features rare double-fold tin edges, and is brilliant tin colour, clean, and four indented feet that keeps the tin from scratching the surface. Double hinged. Made in England.

Arthur William Devis (10 August 1762 β 11 February 1822) was an English painter of history paintings and portraits. He painted portraits and historical subjects, sixty-five of which he exhibited (1779β1821) at the Royal Academy. This original painting by Devis was owned by the Queen, and unfortunately was one of the paintings that was destroyed in the fire at HRH Windsor Castle a few years back.
