HUBBARD: THE FORGOTTEN BOEING AVIATOR, is the true story of Edward Willits Hubbard, (1889-1928) a pioneer in air transportation, and this book chronicles his aeronautical career.
EDIE HUBBARD was the man responsible for the first mass produced commercial aircraft to be built by the Boeing Company. He convinced William E. Boeing to bid on the San Francisco to Chicago air mail route. The bid, in the name of Boeing Air Transport Inc. was successful. Both Boeing and Hubbard signed the mail contract with the United States Post Office. Also at Hubbard's suggestion the Boeing Company built 25 Model 40-B mail planes, among his many aviation accomplishments.Β
