DEAR MOM, is the story of nineteen year-old Victor Syrett of Sooke on Vancouver Island, BC, who sailed to England to join the R.A.F. in 1940. Victor Edward Syrett, a Royal Air Force pilot during World War II, recounts the experiences of his squadron and presents a unique perspective on the war.
He was subsequently captured by the Japanese in Indonesia and imprisoned in a P.O.W. camp in Japan. He went missing following air operations over Java, and was not heard from over the next 15 months! But, the good news is that he was subsequently reported found and alive! This story is based upon letters, photographs and illustrations written home to his mother, along with recollections of his colleagues in later years. Truly an inspirational story that can lift you up and away from any 'First World' worries!
