Millicent Blake Loder was born to John and Jemima (Oliver) Blake at Rigolet on February 23,  1915. She began her education at Rigolet, Muddy Bay and St. Anthony. After working four years at the hospital in North West River, Millie went to Madison, Wisconsin and completed high school. She then went to Duluth, Minnesota and received her nurse's training, after which she returned to Labrador and worked under the tutelage of Dr. Charles Curtis. And this is just the beginning...
