The $1 loonie dollar in this special 2002 COMMON LOON Specimen Set depicts a family of loons in their natural habitat. They are wonderfully rendered by acclaimed Canadian wildlife artist Jean-Luc Grondin.
It should be noted that the original Common Loon $1 Dollar was issued in 1987 with an image that depicts a single solitary common loon, which is used to signify the grace of the Canadian wilderness.
