Antique Brass AUER TABLE LIGHTER: in the RARE 'Diamond-Checked Art Deco Style' - This cylindrical shaped and knurl textured cigarette lighter is a mini art work that appears to be in above average condition for it's age. It appears to be well-handled with no major visible damage. It boasts a wonderful patina of deep copper colour, complete with decades of top-shelf dust, so it may benefit from a cleaning should you so desire. There is no guarantee that this lighter will work, but it does contains a wick, and the trigger mechanism moves freely, although there is no friction suggesting it likely lacks a flint. Made in Japan or Canada.
DID YOU KNOW? In 1903, a synthetic alloy called "ferrocerium" was patented by an Austrian chemist, Carl AUER von Welsbach. When ferrocerium is scratched, a spark is created that ignites the lighter's fuel. This gave birth to the first pocket-friendly lighter known as "flint".
