This Antique Tin Container by J. S. FRY & SONS once contained that magical mixture of cocoa powder that was loved around the world! The tin is in beautiful condition, no colour, no wall markings. The bottom is tin-embossed with "Fry's Cocoa, BRITISH EMPIRE PRODUCTS, CANADA." The top is removable, in gold-colour, and tin-embossed with "Fry's Breakfast Cocoa, MAKERS TO H.M. THE KING". Overall a wonderful working-class person-cave container. Made in Canada.
DID YOU KNOW? J. S. Fry & Sons, Ltd., better known as FRY'S, was a British chocolate company owned by Joseph Storrs Fry and his family. Beginning in Briston in the 18th century, the business went through several changes of name and ownership, becoming J. S. Fry & Sons in 1822. In 1847, Fry's produced the first solid chocolate bar.
