THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU is the classic horror tale, first published in 1896, about a shipwrecked man, Edward Prendick, who reaches a sinister island inhabited by a notorious vivisectionist, Doctor Moreau. Prendick suspects that experiments are being carried out on humans, resulting in hybrid forms, but the doctor explains that he has actually been changing animals into people.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Herbert George Wells, (September 21, 1866-August 13, 1946) was an English writer. Prolific in many genres, he wrote more than fifty novels and dozens of short stories. His non-fiction output included works of social commentary, politics, history, popular science, satire, biography and autobiography.
