Now, the author has taken the reader into the Echo Park section of Los Angeles in 1955, a run down, tattered haven for Mexican and Latin American immigrants as the place where, Francisco, a talented young Mexican artist attempts to make the transition to US culture. He suffers tragedies along the way and becomes caught up in a confusing bureaucracy of governmental agencies, that make him question the meaning of his life.
