This 1999 proof set features both the commemorative silver dollar and the Loonie. In 1774 Juan Perez led an expedition which made the first documented sighting of the Queen Charlotte Islands. The Silver Dollar depicts the 225-ton frigate The Santiago, one of the Queen Charlotte Islands and a Haida canoe approaching the ship.
All coin composition are 92.5% silver, 7.5% copper, except the loonie and penny which are bronze.
