In 1987 the Royal Mint released this fourth and final one pound coin in the 'Royal Diadem' series. Issued individually as well as part of this 1987 One Pound Collection struck in nickel-brass.
The obverse displays the Third crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II right, wearing the George IV State Diadem, legend around. Lettering: ELIZABETH II D·G·REG·F·D, Translation: Elizabeth the Second by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith. Engraver: Raphael David Maklouf. The reverse displays an oak tree enfolding a representation of the Royal Diadem above denomination. Lettering: ONE POUND. Engraver: Leslie Durbin.
Coins are presented in a green simulated leather fold out display case, with removable/reversible glass-like coin holder. Also the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is included. No outer cardboard box.
