ALBERTA STRONG AND FREE...A Historic Issue! Almost 40 years ago, on the evening of Sept. 16, 1984, Pope John Paul II visited Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which was the first trip to Canada by a leader of the Catholic Church.
To commemorate the visit of His Holiness Pope John Paul II to Alberta, this rare medallion was minted. The medallion is of mint quality, uncirculated, and protected in a hard clear-plastic shell. The obverse side features a finely engraved portrait of the Pope, while the reverse has an incredibly detailed crest of the Alberta Coat of Arms.
The coin is in a protective shell, and sits in a leather-like blue-velour-lined black clamshell display box, complete with the COA/information sheet.ย
