Vintage porcelain kung fu teacup was manufactured in major ceramic centers like Chaozhou, China or Arita and Hasami, Japan, likely during the 1970s or 1980s. Condition of this lovely and delicate cup is perfect and pristine. The presentation gift box displays some minor wear on the removable fabric-covered lid.
This piece prominently showcases the traditional rice-pattern or firefly technique (hotaru-de), where small cutouts in the wet clay are filled with translucent glaze before firing so they glow when held up to the light. These delicate, cross-shaped windows are beautifully accented by underglaze blue geometric details and finished with a refined metallic silver rim along the edge. Reflecting its history as a premium vintage giftware set, the delicate teacup is housed in its original presentation box, featuring a vibrant red velvet-lined interior and a red cloth lid decorated with a gold floral motif.
Size:
- Box is 2.75 inch squared x 1.25 inch high.
- Cup is 2 inch diameter x 1 inch high.
