ABOUT THE ARTIST: Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, (July 12, 1884 - January 24, 1920) was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures that were not received well during his lifetime, but later became much sought-after.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: James Martin Gray (November 30, 1930 to August 14, 2020). Published poet and renowned researcher of Tennyson's Arthurian poetry, died peacefully in Beckley Farm Lodge. He was raised, and began his creative and academic work, in Edinburgh, Scotland, and emigrating to Toronto, Canada, in 1952 and to Victoria, British Columbia, in 1990. Gray has published poems on Charlie Parker, Gilles Villeneuve, Amedeo Modigliani, Osip Mandelstam, and Caesar Vallejo, and has taught at several major universities across Canada.
