The Royal Canadian Mint is proud to present the 2005 Specimen Set of Canadian coins. The finish on these superb coins is a three-fold combination of brilliant and frosted relief on a lined finish background.
This year the aureate dollar features the Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrbata), one of British Columbia's most captivating seabirds. With colonies concentrated on the province's islands, the Tufted Puffin is rarely seen, but everyone knows what it looks like. Its big colourful beak, yellow tufts and black, heavyset body are unforgettable!
All coin composition is nickel, brass, or copper.
